Inspiration Behind The Name
The Joshua Tree is a member of the Agave Tree family which grows in deserts. It surprises visitors in the Mojave Desert or in the Sonoran Desert in western Arizona with its resilience to live in a place with limited resources. We named our project after this feat of nature because we thought that the lack of access to food in food deserts is synonymous to the harsh conditions faced by the Joshua Tree. Since this tree can face these conditions and thrive, people in food deserts can also brave though with help of awareness and resources provided by this site!
